There is a rumor that one or more of the creators is suffering from what I have heard called "reverse telescoping microbenis syndrome" and it really shows in the gameplay.. This game is playable, so ill give it that. The music is nice and so are the particle effects, but that's about it. The dialog in the "story" is just horrible and the game is voice acted.... BY JUST FOUR DIFFERENT NON-VOICE ACTORS! So the characters sound like they are in a cheesy high school play. I also think the HUD and menu screens are unappealing and bland. Not to mention the game is hideously overpriced. It also is just generally not fun. Like I understand that this indie game was made with love by a few collage students, but I still don't think this game is good enough to win me over.. really fun. feels like asteroids sort of and has old school dialogue in between levels. the lighting looks nice and controls are tight.. realy fun game but easy campaign. hello friends and sinners! it saddens me to have to save you all from the evils of this game, but that is how it goes when you are doing the lord's work. this game should probably be fun. perhaps when i get to heaven, i will be able to get 8 righteous former humans together to play some multiplayer. i am fairly certain that it will never happen in this life, and there are two big reasons why.it is not so much that the controls are bad. it is more that my controller simply stops working in the middle of the game for no reason. either my controller has been possessed by the evil demon pazuzu, or the evil sinner devs are up to their devious tricks again. the controller works fine for 30 seconds, then it suddenly doesn't work for 30 seconds. the whole time i played it went back and forth like that over and over again. the other major issue was this:http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=477151713i played through a couple of normal levels with bots, when suddenly this level came up. i do not have any idea what this was supposed to be, and apparently neither did the bots, because it took about 10 minutes to finish the game. even when i did actually have contol of my ship, which wasn't all that often, i couldn't really get it to go anywhere. it was mostly me slowly getting sucked in and crashing into the vortex looking thing in the middle. finally after what seemed like ages, something happened and a winner was declared. i had moved on to reading my bible at this point, only leaving the game on to see just how long the level would last.so that is that. we have two very major sins commited by the evil sinner devs of this game. perhaps it is for the best. after all, if jesus wanted us to be in space, he would not destroy so many of our rockets and space shuttles in brilliant explosions for all to see. who are we to question his judgement?god bless amen. Wow, the UI and ham-fisted dialogue are an exceptional turn-off. Having my ship bounce off everything is also quite bizarre; I don't understand why I don't simply pass over planets rather than ricochet off them? With how sluggish and "bouncy" the movement system is, combined with the maze-like levels and its barriers, I feel like I'm controlling the ball-bearing in a pinball game. Even the A.I. has a difficult time navigating these maps.It's really hard to maintain a suspension of disbelief when I'm playing levels where asteroids have conveniently formed eccentric patterns in order to create mazes for the player to navigate. I just don't get it, nothing feels particularly sci-fi about Yargis. The music, the UI, the graphics... it all feels like I'm playing some kind of shareware game from the DOS days but Yargis fails to be as quirky and fun.There's currently no one playing online so I tried one of the official servers with a bunch of A.I., the goal of having to destroy a number of generators whilst battling all opponents, and then the generators regenerate... either I don't understand what I'm doing (the game doesn't explain much other than basic objectives) or it's actually impossible without extensive upgrades to my ship or a competent - and human - team.. It may be a bumping simulator, but it is a good game. A really low budget rip off of Subspace\/Continuum. The controls are awkward, the graphics are bad, the voice overs are so bad it's hilarious. The multiplayer is empty, even when the game is 90% off on Steam.
